A suit has been filed against Governor Snyder (Michigan) by seven students alleging that the State of Michigan has infringed on their rights to literacy.
Some schools have over a 90% failure rate for students in the areas of english and reading. Which according to the students, imposes a hardship with continued success in both academics and society. Links to this failure is the poor conditions of the learning environment and a lack of resources.
The students are brave, but those things are not the problem for me. The problem is the state and Governor Snyder letting it go on under their watch, on top of the other problems Michigan has been facing. Not saying where I'm from and where I live is any better but education should be paramount in modern society in order to move forward. There are numerous cases but this one is a high point in a growing problem.
Students across this country and around the world are suffering in this game of politics and money. Eventually humanity as a whole will start regressing in a atmosphere where new ideas aren't being taught and explored because there's a roadblock, no, a wall around the basics for a ridiculous amount students have to overcome in order to succeed.
You have to ask yourself why schools exist in this nation (and others) and millions of dollars are given- which often times comes from the pockets of the citizens- if quality isn't going to be provided or even a real effort given to change course.
Since the states and school boards can't handle these problems then it goes to the parents of the many students plagued by the negligence. Obviously it's too much responsibility for the officials to handle something they stepped in to be an authority over. Because If you don't, who will?
